Care in the autumn years

Dementia Friendly Comedy Show

Glasgow Times featured Glasgow’s Golden Generation as we’ll host our first Dementia Friendly Comedy gig as part of the Glasgow International Comedy Festival at the Fred Paton Centre on Wednesday 18th March.

“The now sold-out event has been organised by Lynsey Neilson, our Dementia Development Manager and the host for the show will be Paul McDaniel, last year’s runner-up for Scottish Comedian of the Year.

Many elderly people said they had enjoyed comedy but felt it was “not always accessible” for older people, particularly those with dementia or restricted mobility.

Each set will be kept to a maximum of 7 minutes with frequent breaks, and the family-friendly comedy won’t feature any swearing or crowd participation. It’s hoped the event could become a regular feature.”
